What is launchly?

We are focused on one thing — delivering the latest in new website launches to people that are interested in and passionate about them so their owners can get the feedback they need to succeed. By working directly with the people creating the sites our community can help shape the tools they want to use. We make getting and providing feedback easy.

Launchly is like StackOverflow for web startup feedback.

How is launchly different?

We understand how today's websites are created. We know all about agile development and iterative launches. Support for the way websites are created is built-in to launchly.

Each new launch is handled in iterations. Each iteration is from 1-4 weeks long. This ensures a few things...

  • Because there is a minimum time between launches, a site cannot spam launchly with multiple requests for reviews/feedback. Less spam means less trash for the community to deal with.
  • A site can get additional information about changes and improvements they have made by creating a new iteration. A new iteration creates a new round of feedback where the owner tells our community what was changed so they can get a feel for if they are on the right track. You get to watch our sites evolve right before your eyes.

For each launch we also collect all sorts of interesting data for the site owner to use to figure out how their launch is performing. They can view past iterations' feedback and data and in some plans compare them statistically to other iterations. This helps them answer questions like "Are we doing better today than we were last week?"

Passionate Users

The launchly community is excited to read about new websites because they are, generally, involved in creating them! We attract the same types of people that frequent places like HackerNews. We give our users the ability to directly interact with website owners to help shape the future of those sites.

The typical site that shows up on launchly is early-stage and in need of feedback on several important topics like...

  • Is my idea appealing and useful?
  • Do people like the way my website looks?
  • How is my website doing usability-wise?
  • Does my website look good?

You can help them answer these questions and shape the future of their websites.

Users in our community build up reputation over time. The leading contributors are displayed on the front page for the world to see. Cool!

As you build up reputation by providing feedback to other launches and voting on them, your influence in the launchly community grows. Check out the FAQ for more information on how reputation works!

To keep spammers out and increase community participation we require our free launchers to have earned at least 100 reputation on the site prior to creating their launch! Your time is valuable and you shouldn't waste it looking at garbage.

You get to learn about new sites before anyone else and they get to hear what you think. It's the perfect win-win.

Dedicated Owners

Anyone that is taking the time (or spending the money on a paid plan) to use launchly is obviously interested in what you have to say. They will take your feedback and suggestions seriously and implement them as appropriate. You have a direct impact on the owners and their sites. They are encouraged to respond to all feedback because doing so actually helps their launch's ranking in the Hottest Launches list.

Once they have gotten enough feedback to make changes to their site, an owner will create a new iteration or release (a new launch) on launchly. Doing so requires that they basically answer one question: What have you changed since your last iteration and how did the launchly community influence those changes?

Answering that question should be easy and it helps our community get a feel for the impact they are having. It also encourages them to provide additional feedback on your future launches because they can see they are having an effect.
