Clash is an open source real-time simulation game built on top of Java and JavaFX.
Surprisingly, we don't want much feedback on the website that hosts it. The game is also only in the development phase - so we expect many problems there.
The feedback we are looking for is for features that we can add to the game!
Also, if you have trouble loading the page, please let us know!
Love the site design, you'll have to let me know more about the concept of the game and i'll post a review up on http://the-best-free-games.com
The game is going to be free right?
The game did load well for me I was on Firefox 3.5 the performance was also Excellent.
I was able to get into the game. It said it required an update to my java. I'm running debian-sqeeze, iceweasel-3.0.12-1, and sun-java-1.5.0-19-1.
I was able to load the game. Unfortunately, it made no sense to me. I gathered I could left-click on a man and move him to "attack" the red circles. I did the for a while and then I could no longer move anyone. I could move the window, select people, etc.. but my right click did nothing.
Good luck!
I know you can't change your platform now, but I don't even want to try it because its written in java. Everything I see in that game could be done with JS, and a canvas element in a newer browser.
Indeed it could...but that launches a whole other debate ;-) Like the fact that the majority of users don't have browsers that support Canvas (yet). But, I am not one to hark on that - that majority of users have Java but definitely not all. Most techies turn it off in fact.
I for now am just interested in JavaFX and I think that it is a good platform for us Java programmers to build upon. Whether or not JS and Canvas being the future is the start of a flame war that I try desperately to not be involved in. :-D
I could not play the game and I encountered problems. First it asked me if I would allow "Unrestricted Access to my computer" and of course I said no. This caused my browser, which is Firefox 3.5.3, to not allow any text input from my keyboard. I'm on a Macbook Pro Unibody 15". Overall, I had a terrible experience because I had to actually quit my browser to fix the problem your game created. I recommend warning your users about this issue and shedding some light on why your app needs unrestricted access to our computers.
I can't get the game to load at all in either FF or Safari on OSX. I'd love to try it out and open source games are always welcome but it doesn't work for me. :-(
What kind of error are you seeing in your Java Console? Sometimes for the first run, it takes a while to download the JavaFX runtime...

Thanks Brian...try again once you get snow leopard. I heard that the Jobs allowed for Java 1.6 to be loaded by default on it. :-)
