Squiz Cards are the small, fun, and waterproof way to give out your contact info to people you meet. They’re tough, convenient and look great with their round corners and handy dispenser. Choose from thousands of templates or design your own!
Does the site clearly convey information about what Squiz Cards are?
Is the template navigation easy to understand and use?
Is the card editor easy to understand and use?
Was the sign-up and checkout procedure fast and intuitive?
Love your front page. Colorful and fun. The "How much?" card tells me the price but not the quantity, I'd like to know how many cards I get for $17.95
I really liked playing with your cards. I think it was easy to do once I figured out that I needed to select the text on the card to edit it. Might be nice if you preselected an area of the card so that the edit boxes become available right away.
That's odd, I never changed my location and all of a sudden it was set to "New Zealand"
All in all, great looking site. Love the idea. The price seems VERY reasonable to me. Wish I had known about this before my husband spent $50 on his business cards.
That's funny, I noticed the same thing with the New Zealand thing but forgot to mention it.
We'd love to know some more about this. What page did it mysteriously change? Anything you can tell us to give us a clue on how to fix it.
I'm not sure what page it was on that it changed. I just happened to notice it and thought it looked odd and wondered if maybe that was the default for some reason. I went back and played around a bit and couldn't get it to happen again (even in a new browser that had never been there before) so I'm not sure what the deal was.
First thought: You are competing with the moomini cards. After reviewing sizes, I see your dimensions are slightly smaller than the moo cards.
From the template selection page, I selected the upload image button. After uploading an image, I hit "go back". It did not return me from where I came. Confusing. Instead of going to the template selection page, it sent me to the "let's put some details on page".
After clicking the "home" button so I could verify what happened, my locale changed from US to Australia.
The image cropping was slightly confusing until I realized I had to use the left slider. The image rotation is cool. It seems you should be able to grab the image for dragging from any location, not just the circle.
My save and continue click gave me a "The page you were looking for doesn't exist." error. Hitting the back button lost my changes.
The second time it worked.
On the order page, my first instinct was to click the thumbnail image to see the larger version. It was not until I had clicked on several thumbnails that I realized I was ordering a book of every color.
I'm guessing you are part of click business cards. I would have a mouse hover message to that effect. When I clicked on "click", it was jarring how different the sites are. I thought I had hit spam at first.
Overall thought:
* I liked your colors and graphics.
* Site is fast, except when looking at large versions of the thumbnails
* The yellow highlight effect is cool!
* Nice small site
Suggested new features:
* flickr integration for the image source
* a way to order a lot with different images (ie 50 cards total, 5 images, 10 cards per image)
Hi Steven,
Squiz Cards are very unique, the manufacturing has many processes involved.
* Your artwork is produced from the data you enter on our website
* Metal printing plates are laser imaged
* The highest quality Heidelberg offset printing on the latest technology synthetic (plastic) board
* Special drying processes for the inks
* Industrially glued gloss laminate is applied to both sides of the Squiz Cards
* Die cutting of the individual Squiz Cards
* Sorting and packaging of your order
Squiz Cards are not just small business cards. They are a very different process to make.
The features of Squiz Cards are....
* They are small and conveniently sized to carry with you at all times
* They have a unique keyring dispenser
* The substrate is a synthetic polypropylene board which is plastic, waterproof and rigid for its size
* They have a gloss laminate applied which protects the printed surface even if dropped and scratched on a cement floor they remain readable
* They have die cut round corners for a unique look and feel with no sharp edges to catch in your pockets
Note: because Squiz Cards are offset printed (for quality) not digital it's not economical to order 50 cards with 5 images and 10 cards per image.
I see what you are saying here, but 30 minutes on your site did not convey this to me. From your site, I got the impression you were "yet another mini-business card" vendor. You may want to think about how you can add how your product is better/different to your site in a non-obtrusive fashion.
Good luck!
The landing page was well done and visually appealing. The keyring holder image was the main focal point and it wasn't immediately obvious to me what that was. I wasn't sure what I was looking at so maybe consider replacing that with an image of your main product standing alone and shrink the keyring holder? Also the image you're using to separate the blue background from the paisley does not look like it's meant to repeat horizontally because I can see where they meet up (see first screenshot). The product is explained very well w/out me needing to read much so congrats there. Also, the scrollable "persona" widget to narrow down card types was cool.
The yellow post-it notes are also nice and helpful for telling me what I'm going to want to know. Word of warning that they are likely below the fold on many resolutions. Also, for some reason I was expecting them to be clickable (maybe to an appropriate question/section in the FAQ?).
I found the template navigation a bit confusing actually. The main interface you seem to expect people to use is a blank search box. At the very least you may want to pre-populate that with some example searches that clear on focus to give your users some hints. Personally I don't think I would jump right to a search for this kind of thing as I would be in more of a browsing mode. Where is the category navigation once you are in the template screens? You seem to have them broken down by different personas/audiences on the landing page but that navigation is lost once you are on the templates tab. I'm not sure how much people will use the filter by color option; I don't think I would.
Also, the thumbtack at the top of the page seems a bit out of place. I get what you're going for but I don't think it's quite conveying what you want it to. The "paper" you're tacking to the background doesn't really look like paper to me and so the effect is lost and it really just kinda looks like a thumbtack hanging out pointlessly at the top.
The card editor was very easy to use for me but then again I'm used to things like that from CafePress and others. It did seem to run a bit slow for some reason though. I appreciate the wide range of fonts and the simplicity. I think this would be great if you did not need much customization of what is on the card and just go with the templates which look quite nice.
I tried uploading a custom image of my actual business card for launchly and it seemed to take waaaaay too long. Not sure what that was about. The image was only 124k. Maybe a progress bar of some sort would be helpful there. I let it spin for several minutes and eventually just gave up so I'm not sure how the custom image stuff works. I was curious what it would do size-wise. I had custom designed my launchly business cards at standard business card sizes in Gimp and wondered what it would do with it. What I was going to get at was that I didn't see anything telling me what pixel size to use if I wanted to provide a custom background for the card itself and essentially ditch the template. Also, what happens if the image I upload is too big? Is it resized? Cropped?
The pricing to me seems very reasonable having used Staples a number of times for business cards now. Yours are a bit more expensive but if they are as high quality as your site leads me to believe then it's probably more than worth the money. I love the iPhone holder you have and the keychain. My only concern with the keychain is that it might make my keys too bulky.
The accessory roll-overs (step 3) are cool but I did notice you're not pre-loading the images so there was a noticeable load time that could be easily avoided. I noticed that there wasn't anything letting me know how many cards fit in the key/adhesive holders which would be useful to me. I personally see no point to the books because they looked sized to hold only squiz cards and honestly how many of those would I expect to run into?
I went as far as signing up before bailing on the checkout process. Up to that point it was pretty standard (good) and easy to use. Only thing I would suggest is you think about allowing a no-account checkout option.
