- Usability?
- Marketable?
- Design?
- Need more features?
After thinking about this for a while... to be a success, think about adding the following features.
* As I mentioned earlier.. you need Twitter OAuth.
* You should either convert your main input page, or create an advanced input page to give the user control over both the "extended" message and the "teaser" 140 character tweet. As it is, the cut point in the teaser may or may not have enough information to prompt someone to click thru. However, if I can control my teaser, it will be far more likely. And since I took the time to create a "long" tweet, I probably want people to click thru to see it.
* You should encourage the teaser to be 140 - (@username.size + 5) characters in length. In my case @sevatt, messages should be less than 129 characters in length to promote retweets. In order for you to be a success, you need to get the word out about your site. The best way to get the word out about your site is for your users to have their messages go viral via retweets.
* Finally, consider making it easy for people to add images. Maybe interface with twit-pic or something.
Good luck!
I like the idea but am not sure how many people will go to a separate site in order to post longer tweets. I think that there is a niche group of users that would use it more than a lot of users using it occasionally. I hope that makes sense. I like that the main page is clean and simple and not cluttered up.
First impressions:
* I don't like the name. Sorry :\
* This project isn't useful to me - I would just use my blog. Who is your target audience? What's the use case?
* The "example" is incredibly useful (I thought it would just post consecutive tweets when I first saw the page). However, the example is not very long, perhaps could be modified to better demonstrate the use of the extender.
* I'm not a designer, but to me the fonts and the linespacing feel wrong. The front page is simple, but it feels out of balance.
* The text box isn't very big. If the idea is to get me to post long things through twitter, it just isn't adequate.
Neat idea. But you need to use the twitter OAuth (http://apiwiki.twitter.com/OAuth-FAQ) so users don't get the impression your out for their passwords... That is unless you are attempting to harvest user names and passwords.
Your 404 page is a blank screen. You should provide navigation back to your main content.
You don't have a robots.txt or sitemap.xml file.
Do you plan on making the tweets you get easily searchable?
Nice, simple design. Very obvious what you are about from the first click.
BTW: The service is not for me. If I want more than 280 characters (two tweets), I'll put it in my blog.
Good luck!
