Many other web hosting reviews are just advertising schemes, or hosting companies end up paying to make it into fake Top 10 lists or get positive reviews. At Reviews-Web-Hosting, you can always be sure that you’re getting the pure truth – real reviews with hard facts.
How is the design? What is you first impression: do you trust the site and its content? What information should I add?
I think that services like these are really important, and I definitely appreciate them. Personally, I don't mind a large table, given that I have the ability to narrow down the search results. I do find one thing lacking though - support for dedicated or virtual dedicated servers.
I'm the type that uses web servers for very little web hosting. It sounds weird, but I have a dedicated server that is running Tomcat that my Java programs can interact with, hosts Bugzilla, and runs SVN. Two of those three are root programs, rather than something like PHP support. It would be nice if those types of services were taken into account.
Thanks!
I really dislike seeing dashes in your URL. I know finding a good URL is hard but consider changing it to something a) shorter and b) w/out dashes if you can. Check out http://www.wordoid.com for some good domain name help.
The site looks decent enough. It's not the highest caliber design but it is presented well. There seems to be some confusion in your use of fonts. You have sans-serif in some places and serif in others. There's nothing inherently wrong with that but for some reason it looks accidental here. Maybe stick to one font face?
Your main navigation is nice and clear but on my browser/os combo, the Twitter link wrapped down a line. I'm using FF on OSX.
As for whether I trust the site and its content, my answer is "maybe". You seem to be conflicted a bit. In your first feature you talk about "Reviews you can trust" and how all the other hosting review sites are just advertising scams or bought off by the hosting companies. Then under "Save Money" you talk about your Hot Offers section that showcases freebies or discounts. Where do those discounts come from? It makes me feel like you're getting the discounts from the hosting companies for acting as a referral service which is what you claim to not be doing.
I also checked out your Hosting Plans section. All I can say is "information overload"! That table you shoved in there is waaaaay overkill. I have to scroll for miles horizontally. The drop downs are handy for filtering but overall I think that page needs a lot of work since that is, I assume, your "main page". I'm not sure what to suggest here other than try to maybe figure out the most important columns and scale back to those?
The last thing I noticed is you claim to be a site of hosting reviews yet I was unable to find a single review on your site. Where are you hiding them? They shouldn't be hard to find. I only checked Dreamhost so maybe you just don't have all of them reviewed? Then again, I would find it hard to believe you COULD have them all reviewed in the first place. That's a LOT of web hosts to have enough experience with to provide a review.
