A collection of free XHTML/CSS templates, Flash templates, Photoshop templates and WordPress themes.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Great idea. One thing I'm having a really hard time with as I look at your website, is that I can't differentiate between content and ads. I looked around a bit more and I'm really irritated with the ads...I feel like you're intentionally getting me to click on ads so you get higher number of clicks. Everything looks like it's running together...
I looked through some of the templates and realized that you're just linking them to the site owner...do you have the rights to do that? Gotta be careful and be sure you are covered. Also, I don't necessarily trust downloading ANYTHING from ANYONE so there's gotta be a way that you make me feel you're not going to let me get a virus or something.
I like your site. It is a nice grouping of templates that are available, and as a wordpress blogger, that is definitely appreciated. I have a slightly different feeling towards ads - as your source of revenue, its supposed to feel integrated into your site, as to draw a higher click count. I can definitely agree with that. However, your site is different in that you publish 'free' templates. So it can't feel TOO integrated because the ads surely aren't going to take you to free content.
One thing that I always want to push with owners of this site is the licenses. Like jmaite said, you're just linking off to the template owners site... But maybe you could provide a listing of what license they are and what that means? I don't like the idea that if I use a certain template that all my content being displayed with that content needs to be free as well...
Other than that, I'd say layout wise, you look good. Pretty 'ad' heavy - I'd recommend cutting down on that personally but up to you. Good job.
First problem I see is that the last nav element in your main navigation (More Free Web Templates) wraps around to the next line on my system (FF 3.5 OSX MacBookPro).
I also think there are too many ads. I know your templates are free and so you need to be ad supported but it's over the top IMO.
I'm sure you know this but you need a logo, not just your domain name repeated.
Also, are any of the templates yours? The first one I looked at actually just linked off to templateworld.com. Do you even have the rights to show them on your site?
