Mapspread is a software-as-a-service mapping tool that lets users create mapping applications. For example you can create a store locator in less than 5 minutes. It also lets you upload a spreadsheet containing locations and geocode them on the fly.
When you've reached the limits of Google MyMaps you can import your KML data to share it with people within your organization, re-publish it in a map widget or just export the data.
You may also import (or export to) ESRI Shapefiles, MapInfo TAB and all other standard geoformats.
Is the product presented correctly?
The headers on the "Manage" help page look odd. Some words are spaced out too much and at first I thought these were forming another sub-header on the page...reconsider your alignment.
I liked the video, I pretty much understood how this works and would definitely use it if I was a business owner with multiple stores. Site design is nice and organized...great job! I think your site name fits well with the service.
One thing, I think you could expand your audience a bit more if you didn't categorize all the addresses to one store. For example, a university could use this for College of Liberal Arts, College of Engineering, College of Education, etc. which all belong to the same University...not sure if I explained this right. Anyway, if you have this available already, it wasn't clear to me.
Final comment, your beta seem to only be available to businesses. However, I could see myself using this tool for my game night group, we meet every month at different locations and it'd be nice if everyone entered and updated their own addresses so I don't have to query for the information on a monthly basis.
Great site and really good concept. Wondering how much you plan to charge for this service.
I didn't like click on the picture of the video, to be presented with another video that I had to click play on. It seemed like one too many clicks. I also question the content of the video. It's a four plus minute video explaining how to use the product. When I land on your page, chances are I'm going to be more interested in what your product does and why my business needs it. Customers only care that its easy when they land on a page...but unfortunately a four minute video doesn't seem easy (remember, a second in internet time is like a minute in real life).
On your about page, you have an e-mail link to poly9. I would highly recommend having that e-mail be a local link to mapspread. Sign up also says that it is in beta, but gives me no idea how much the product is going to cost once it is out of beta. As a customer, that scares me. What price segment are you targetting?? If I can't figure this out, then I would be very wary...
Presentation wise, I like that it is concise, and it looks well organized. Overall, a pretty good presentation. The icons are crisp and fit well.
I also must say that you have a very good product on your hands for small business owners. Those that are looking to make websites for their store fronts need a 'where am I located' map. This would integrate well with those type of web pages. Have you looked at potential integrations with services like GoDaddy's small business website builder?
This is a very interesting idea. I can't say I've seen anything else like this but then I really haven't looked either. The landing page is very well organized. I like the logo.
In the main navigation, the Login link that appears above the Home/Tour/etc does not match the rest of that area. Perhaps that is intended to make the Login link standout. It does, but to me it does it in a bad way. It looks almost like it was forgotten.
I love the video on the main page. I watched it and found it extremely helpful in describing the service. One thing I see as a potential issue though is that you seem to be selling it as so easy to use even non-developers can use it. I have a hard time thinking a typical internet user would be able to do all that. Don't get me wrong, it looked very easy to me but then I am a developer... Just something to think about.
Here's an idea that may help streamline the process a bit. You have them upload their logo. Maybe you could analyze their logo, find the most prominent color, and default to that for their map pins.
I know you are trying to sell people on signing up for an account but you may want to repeat the Tour link in that "Sign up" area so it is more visible to users. The video does a great job but some people may not want to sit through the whole 5 minutes and the tour you have is very nicely done as well so showcase it.
Very cool idea for an app.
