Unclip.com is a social networking site that allows users to come together to ask and answer each other's online shopping questions, which we call "Taste Tests". When you participate in these "Taste Tests," you earn points which can be redeemed to enter contests sponsored by many of our affiliate stores. The winner could receive up to a hundred dollars in gift certificates, prizes, and giveaways.
In addition to the Taste Tests, we also have an Unclip Blog where we observe the latest shopping crazes and feature the hottest new items. We also have a vast collection of coupons to your favorite stores ranging from fashion retailers to the top technology brands.
We want people to specifically give us feedback on the Taste Test portion of our site where users ask/answer shopping questions in order to collect points, which they can redeem
I'm also not a fan of the dotted background. The search results were kind of strange I felt...they didn't exactly display in a usable manner. The space just is not well used (may be a rendering bug?)
Not sure I understand the 'Taste Test' concept. I clicked on the link, and was presented with a video...but not an explanation of what 'Taste Test' means to your community.
Certain links still need content added - in particular the FAQ.
First of, I think "Taste Test" difficult to pronounce, you might want to reconsider a catchier phrase. I don't like the dotted background either. Landing page is cluttered. Had no idea what to search for. Watched a few minutes of one of the videos and did not see how it related to the site. A girl talking about what is useful to carry with her in her purse.
I think I need more direction on your site instead of just throwing it all on the main page.
I do not care for the dotted background you are using.
My first thought when I got to the site was that I wasn't sure what to do next and that was after reading your explanation of it on launchly. The Search, Ask, Answer bit at the top was not very helpful and even a bit confusing since they have rollovers but don't seem to link anywhere. The Ask one also seemed to have a typo since it reads as "ask users or shopping help" which I guess should read FOR shopping help.
I looked at a few of the taste tests that were already there but none of them looked like there was any way for me to interact with or vote on them so I was really confused as to what you wanted me to do in them. Whether I actually clicked on them or just expanded them with the + sign seemed to make no difference. Many of them simply expanded with nothing there to see (e.g. Movie Challenge). Also, none of the taste tests really appeared to be "asking" anything that I could see.
It also was unclear what I needed to do to create my own taste test. I eventually noticed the "Got a dilemma" area on the left side but the ticket looking graphic seemed connected to the textarea beneath it but NOT connected to the "create a taste test" button. Are those two items (the textarea and the create button) tied together in the same form? It was unclear. Also it was very unclear what to actually put in the textarea. What is supposed to go there? I shouldn't have to wonder about that.
I muddled through and created a taste test named "something or other..." with media type = none. Now I see why the front page is confusing. What exactly did I create? I see no way to actually interact with my taste test after it is created. It says no results and no responses but what is there to respond to? Even if I had asked a serious question, I still don't see how anyone could help me with it.
It seems like a potentially useful site, keep at it!
